I've always found it hard to draw high cheekbones properly from the top of my head... because I never studied them properly! Of course! That's why for this drawing I chose this particular picture of a male model from a magazine.
I took almost 5 hours for this with little breaks (once to the washroom, and walking around because my legs kept going numb) in between. I treated it like some exam although it really wasn't. By the time I reached the neck I was exhausted and started feeling dizzy, which explains the increased sketchiness of the shading. I messed up the forefinger... I drew that over and over but I guess my perspective was dying due to hunger. The hand! Gosh the hand took me a few tries because I kept drawing it far too big! Then comes the shirt... and I went, "Oh, f*** it, outlines it is!"
In case you're wondering, no, his hair isn't cut like that haha it's just cut off by the edge of the magazine, and I wasn't quite sure how to make it seem to trail/fade into the space. I tried to adjust the brightness and contrast so that it reflects the actual drawing without messing it up too much.
I used a 2B pencil and an A4 paper.
Done for my uni application to One Academy.
